Proverbs 11:14 (KJV)

“Where no counsel is, the people fall: but in the multitude of counsellors there is safety”.

The Bible urges us to seek counsel. The Hebrew nautical term used for steering a ship is “counsel”.

Counsel can be used as a noun. Some common synonyms for counsel as a noun are advice, guidance, direction, warning, guidelines or suggestions. Counsel can also be used as a verb. Some synonyms for counsel as a verb are advise, recommend, advocate, encourage, direct, suggest, instruct, warn, support, help, aid, or to lend a listening ear.

Coaching is essentially the same. A professional coach is deemed as a wise counselor. A wise counselor will not tell you what to do but will gently draw out of you your desires and attentively listen.  Image yourself like a ship being steered in a path to unite with your purpose. You do not want to find yourself off course or out of proper timing. A plan that includes effective counsel and coaching will help ensure that the rudder of your ship does not get snagged by rocks causing you to avert your course.

Always remember, there is the spiritual and the natural.  When unified together watch for great things to happen. The wisdom of godly professional counselors or coaches can help navigate you in the right direction to achieve your G-d endowed maximum potential.
