All Things – The Knowledge of Truth
1 Timothy 2:1-4
1 I exhort therefore, that, first of all, supplications, prayers, intercessions, and giving of thanks, be made for all men; 2 For kings, and for all that are in authority; that we may lead a quiet and peaceable life in all godliness and honesty. 3 For this is good and acceptable in the sight of God our Saviour; 4 Who will have all men to be saved, and to come unto the knowledge of the truth.
2 Peter 1:1-4
1 Simon Peter, a servant and an apostle of Jesus Christ, to them that have obtained like precious faith with us through the righteousness of God and our Saviour Jesus Christ: 2 Grace and peace be multiplied unto you through the knowledge of God and of Jesus our Lord, 3 According as his divine power hath given unto us all things that pertain unto life and godliness through the knowledge of him that hath called us to glory and virtue: 4 Whereby are given unto us exceeding great and precious promises: that by these ye might be partakers of the divine nature, having escaped the corruption that is in the world through lust.
Paul begins the second chapter of 1 Timothy with a message of urgency and the necessity for all men to seek God through worship. Worship is making your prayer request known, praying, praying the will of God on behalf of others and giving thanks to our heavenly Father. Notice that Paul does not want anyone to miss it so he was specific; to not only say all men, but also he added kings and those that are in authority. No one is exempt!
Prayer is the key to living a good, peaceful and quality life. This goes back to our inspiration from yesterday that we must put first things first. Paul gives us another spiritual principle. Salvation first and after salvation the necessity for all men to come into the knowledge of the truth of the word of God. To come into the knowledge of the truth of the word of God is to surrender your will to God’s will.
Peter in his writing; essentially, says the same thing as Paul. Grace, which is God’s unmerited favor to you and your peace will increase as you chose to allow the word of God to be first in your life. The word of God bring power into your life. Once you know the truth of the word of God your thought process and attitude will change. All of a sudden you will start changing your own world because as a man thinketh in his heart (mind) so is he. (Prov. 23:7) You will start believing and speaking what the word of God says over your life. Notice in this passage not only have you been given great and precious promises, you have been given promises that exceed great. These are promises that surpass any thing that you can believe, ask or think. These promises are all attached to the knowledge obtained from the word of God. No word and knowledge; No exceeding great and precious promises.
Can you imagine going to work today and your boss says to you, “You may have anything is this building that you desire. You are the new CEO”? All of a sudden your entire demeanor would change. You would see yourself doing things that you never felt you could do before. You would have a sense of peace. You would feel secure that your job was no longer in jeopardy. You would mentally go to another level. Your confidence level would be boosted. I think that you would be pretty excited. But all these are earthly promises that carry no eternal rewards. The word of God promises you both the natural and the spiritual rewards. God has, which is past tense, given you all things that pertain to life and godliness. Anything or anyone that makes promises that do not have eternal rewards attached to it is destruction.
Make a decision today to enjoy and cherish the “all things” that God has already given you. The “all things” is the inerrant word of God. It is absolute. It will never fail. It will never run out. It will never disappoint you.
Command the whole truth over your life. God wants glory in your life to shine. I see you in your future and you look much better!
